Mission Statement
Improve the quality of life for men and their families through awareness and early detection of prostate cancer. We aim to:
- To educate men about their unique susceptibility to prostate cancer and to motivate them to get PSA blood tests and physicals because early detection saves lives.
- To empower women, loving wives and mothers of our children, to influence their men to act.
- To provide comfort to surviving families of victims.
- To make prostate screenings available to all men in Arizona.
The Cause
Men have a 1 in 5 chance of developing prostate cancer in their lifetime, and more than 4,000 Arizona men will be diagnosed this year alone. With early detection and treatment, prostate cancer is nearly 100% survivable.
Over 600 Arizona men will die from prostate cancer within the next twelve months. Sadly, an easy and simple 15-minute exam might have saved their lives.
POP – Prostate On-Site Project – has 2 mobile prostate screening units that travel the state of Arizona, making simple annual screenings easier and more convenient by coming to workplaces, health fairs and community events. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that began in 1999, POP also helps reduce the out-of-pocket cost of screenings for many uninsured or under-insured men.
